Prince and Princess

There are no Prince Charmings

or happily ever afters

as the princess sits on her bed

waiting to be rescued from heartache

she grew up with the lies

that everything turns out fine

as soon as she is blessed

with true love’s kiss

but night after night she is alone

reminiscing on lovers lost

blaming herself

blaming fate

for keeping her trapped in pain

perhaps if she wasn’t fed lies

from the day she was born

she’d be more comfortable

being so dreadfully alone

someday she’ll look to the stars

and see the hope painted there

rather than broken promises

and deeply rooted despair

will someone save the princess

or will she save herself

or will she die upon that bed

ever waiting for her prince

drowned in puddle of tears
